Record Breaking Twins Born in Texas!

April 20, 2020

Did you know that about half of all twins weigh at least 5.5 lbs (2500 grams) at birth? In comparison, the average singleton weighs 7 lbs, but it’s not that she’s comparatively bigger, it’s because on average she’s hanging out in utero five weeks longer. That said, it’s not unusual for some women to deliver twins that each weigh around 7 lbs if the pregnancy lasts 37+ weeks.

Today we are covering an amazing story that is a record breaking birth for the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Midlothian Texas. Rock star mama, Stephanie Stokes, gave birth to twins Andee Grace and Baylee Sue on Friday April 17, 2020. They weighed in at a combined weight of 18 lbs 3 oz and 43.5 inches!

Andee, who was born first, weighed in at 9 lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long. One minute later, Baylee Sue emerged at 9 lbs 2 oz and 21.5 inches long.

Birthing twins is a hard job itself, but can you imagine delivering 18 pounds of baby?! What makes the story even more amazing, the new additions Andee & Baylee make children 6 and 7 for this wonderful family!

We wish the Stokes family nothing but health and happiness!
