If you’re a twin mama, regardless of whether your twins are in or out of the womb, then you’ve probably already been tagged in a dozen twin memes. We get it -- twins are unique, humorous, and just down right adorable. And there’s probably a small part of you that’s laughing because it’s happening to us and not you…. that’s fine too.
It seemed appropriate to start with the sleep theme. Or should I say, lack of sleep theme?
I lucked out in having decent newborn sleepers with my twins, but then toddlerhood hit. My, oh my! I just don’t even want to talk about it.
The identical twin mamas out there can relate to these next few posts. I don’t know how y’all do it. Super moms, I tell ya! And here I am calling my boy/girl twins by the wrong name half the time and forgetting whose teeth I brushed and whose I didn’t!
I guess that’s one way to solve the problem though!
The sassy response memes get me every time! I’m not personally brave enough to say anything like this in real life. What about y’all? Have you ever given someone a super sassy answer to the obvious questions? I think the closest I’ve ever gotten is when I was tired of people asking if my boy/girl twins were identical and I started responding “Nope, just look in their diapers!”.
This is one where I have to hold my tongue a little. I fully understand that all parenting is hard. Super hard! And having kids close together brings it’s own unique challenges. But no, it’s not “the same as having twins”...and that’s coming from someone who has had both.
I have a few pictures similar to this from my twins’ newborn days. And now that they are 2, these sorts of phrases are more and more common in our household. My daughter was literally covered in baby powder the other day, and as soon as I walked in the room she gasped and said “Oh no! Bubba made a mess!”.... Really, sis? Is that a fact?
Oh, so relatable! This. Is. My. Life. And then the other 15% of the time they are hugging each other and holding hands and giggling -- and you suddenly forget about all these moments… almost.
Ummm… okay, sure. Thanks! Just smile, nod, and walk away slowly.
Especially if one of the twins is throwing a tantrum. And especially if they both are! It takes a village, that’s for sure. Us twin mamas have to stick together through it all - the trials and triumphs alike! One of my favorite things to do is to help out other mamas in public when I just so happen to be kid-free myself. I’ve been known to hold a stranger’s baby on an airplane a time or two.
Assuming you had a snippet of free time to read this post when both babies were sleeping simultaneously, I hope these memes brought a smile to your face! Like I said, if you have twins of your own, you’ve probably already been tagged in at least half of them.
Lisa & Cara are best friends and co-founders of thehelpmates.com. From roommates, to bridesmaids, to seminary wives, and now twin mamas -- they can’t seem to get rid of each other. Cara welcomed her 4th generation boy/girl twins in 2015, and Lisa her twin boys through embryo adoption in 2017. Although there are now 800 miles separating them, their families still make sure to vacation together once a year.
